Follow the white rabbit, oh wait I am the white rabbit

The post man brought me my new Baby Coat and IW skirt early (way too early) on a Tuesday morning.
So I had to take it out today, when I finally had the time. (All the time spent trying to curl my hair was obviously wasted...)

(Kääpä niinkuin minä)

Hopefully hubby will find the coat huggable too, because "it's so fluffy I'm going to die" and I wan´t to hug it all the time.

Colour inspiration and angst.

Classic lolita was the style I originally fell in love with. The thing that's the problem for me is all the muted colours. (Same problem with mori style). I love to death the down to earth but elegant look on other people, but beige and muted pastels make me look like I have the jaundice...Ok wine read and navy and black look good on me. Brown is a colour that I would say I'm usually not for some reason comfortable in, but lately I've been craving deep chocolate brown.
I would also really want to have a pearl grey jumper skirt. Pearl grey is another colour I've really been craving lately. Kittymas (what a pagan me calls Christmas, because well that's who I rather hold a mas to.) for some reason always makes me crave tartan. Navy tartan is gorgeous, why don't I own any. My heart belongs to Mary Magdalene. Why don't I own any? Some day...If I were a rich girl.

Muffin scarf? With my lack of skills?

Ok I'm not a genious with crafts. But lately a a Twinkie Chan's book caught my eye in the bookstore. And I even took it home. Now after making this confession I have to make her muffin scarf my Kittymas holiday project.
As I remember I wasn't quite as hopeless at crocheting as I was with knitting....Knock on wood.

Pina-" Dance, dance, otherwise we are lost"

So a 3D contemporary dance movie about a choreographer/dancer Pina Bausch. Again it's very hard for me to think how a person who has never danced would see it, but my husband expected to be completely bored and wasn't, even liked it. I cried through most of it. Laughed sometimes. Sometimes wasn't quite sure which one of those I was doing. Don't expect a plot. This is a tribute made with love for this artist. There are very few words. It is mostly dance offering a lot of visual inspiration. Often dance taken away from stage and put into breathtaking landscapes. Also an eye opener to how beautiful human bodies of all ages are. I started to visually prefer the older dancers.  It's about emotions, taking the personal to the level of universal. Don't expect to learn a lot about Pina particularly personally. The movies is about as the dancers put it "As if Pina was a part of all of us, and we are all a part of her". In that way you will get to know her, more personally.

For anyone looking for visual inspiration, I really recommend this!

One autumn day

Me and my love made a short visit to the flee market/used books shop. I found a book from L. M. Montgomery I haven't read before, Jane of Lantern Hill.  Perfect light holiday reading for tired brains.
And of course I had to climb an apple tree.
And some funny things my beloved hubby has gotten for me.

Yes I have a soft spot for rubber ducks, and now they have a new friend a blinking pink octopus. And on the side it says "penny a day keeps the madness away". Yes being insane is a very expensive "hobby"...

One lovely blog award

I've gotten one from New Vogue Children and Pitsiperhonen . Thank you lovely ladies, you truly deserved yours. So...
1. Tell who gave you the award and link this back to his/her blog.
2. Write seven random facts about yourself.
3. Give this award to fifteen bloggers/blogs you like.

 So random facts hmm

1. Because I kept having bad nightmares about fires as a little kid, my new agey mom believed I'm a reincarnation of Emma Livry , a dancer who died of burns gotten when her tutu got caught  on fire 1863. She said there's something about her eyes. I'm a bit more sceptical, but who knows.

2. I've tried to learning playing the piano twice, with only little success. My hyperextensive little finger  bends before a piano key goes down. I would  have to tape it to be able to play.

3. Fluttershy is my favorite pony in My Little Pony Frienship is Magic. (In large majority in this one I think.)  My husband says I'm like her. With a bit of Pinkie Pie when hyper.

4. On rainy days I save worms by putting them on a lawn from asphalt. Yes you don't want to shake hands with me afterwards. They are ecologically far more useful species than destructive humans. I'm compensating for my unfortunate humanity by saving a few from drowning.

5. My wedding dress was Jane Austen- inspired.

6. I can neither swim nor ride a bike very well. I haven't owned a bike since I was a little kid. But lately I've begun to dream of owning a pink one and re-learning to ride it.

7.This little physics/cosmology nerd is all excited about a possibility of faster than light neutrinos.

As a principal I don't tag people for any chainletter, meme etc. type of things. If I follow you I do so for a reason. If you want to do this, consider yourself tagged.

The idol of lolies

I resently read a biography of Marie Antoinette by Antonia Fraser.
Fraser Writes in a way very sympathetic to the woman in question. The book is certainly not lacking of interesting details. Did you know that the woman accused of parting that ruined France was actually a teetotaller? (I'm always tempted to write that teatotaller...) And of course to our delight there are some pictures too. It paints a picture of a kind hearted woman, who certainly didn't have the inclination for politics expected of her by demanding mother, and later feared by the people of France. While she did escape the pressure put on her to produce an heir in an unconsumated marriage for years to material pleasures of pretty gowns and gambling, she eventually grew into a woman who kept her cool admirably in the face of the brutal revolution and a trial where she had no way to win and keep her head.

In the words from a another book, that was one of the favorites from my childhood:
"Whatever comes,” she said, “cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess inside. It would be easy to be a princess if I were dressed in cloth of gold, but it is a great deal more of a triumph to be one all the time when no one knows it. There was Marie Antoinette when she was in prison and her throne was gone and she had only a black gown on, and her hair was white, and they insulted her and called her Widow Capet. She was a great deal more like a queen then than when she was so gay and everything was so grand. I like her best then. Those howling mobs of people did not frighten her. She was stronger than they were, even when they cut her head off.” “A Little Princess” - Frances Hodgson Burnett

Teaparty at Mimi's

I was fortunate to be invited to a lovely teaparty last weekend. More on this epic Event can be found on the blog of many beautiful attendants Cortile de Roses. But to the actual point, which is of course visual.
My outfit.

The gorgeous Parikka shoes of the ever beautiful Caramea

Whee I'm a Mary Poppins!
And we most certainly had a spoon full of sugar. The credit for my outfit pictures belongs to the embodiment of cutess Kata.

Cloudberrylady teaparty

I got a kind invitation to perform at the Cloudberry Lady's teaparty. Fellow lolitas are always a nice audience to perform to. Afterall I really feel there is much in common with a aesthetics of ballet and lolita, the search of faerytail like romantic beauty. The thing that has me strongly hooked to both.

Of course these small slippery spaces not meant for dancing are practically a suicide to dance on. Raymonda's variation didn't go so well. I had to make some changes to directions (my apologies Marius Petipa turning in your grave) and there was some slipping. The Dying Swan went a lot better. I've always been somehow more comfortable in the non-human tragic roles, well I always love to perform it.
(Thank you for the picture Aristosa)

Anyway I got to meet many lovely people. A lovely day of escapism indeed. I've also been impressed with Cloudberry Lady's new lines. Of course the Sparkly Space Attack appeals to my space nerdiness and the new fall line print was very nice too. Hopefully after my financial situation hopefully improves I can make an order from them.
Dear hubby, who was my chaffeur and asistant and put up with all the frilliness. (Thank you for the picture plant_t)
